What is Copy Writing?
- You write to sell a product/ service- to the point
- Massive info presented in a few words
- Psychological- focus is on what motivates the customer to buy a product- write in a way that would motivate customers to buy
- Use short sentences- easier to read and understand
- Write the first sentence good- keep the people reading- e.g. tell a little story; or mention something regarding the end to keep suspense
- Use specific headlines- tell the reader what the content is actually about- e.g. use ‘Save 2 Hours Per Day with These 7 Productivity Hacks’ rather than using ‘Save More Time the Easy Way’
- Use FOMO/ Fear of Missing Out approach- write in a way people take things to be important- e.g. deadline ends on 12th December’ 21 at 11:59 pm
- Write a strong Lead- the first paragraph after the headline
- Use hook in your first or second sentence
- Grab the readers’ attention from here
- It should be 6-8 sentences long
- Lead should be short
- Use mini stories
- Do not use big word- use unique ones
- Use the AIDA formula- Attention, Interest, Desire and Action
- Instead of mentioning benefits; mention features
- Address the client’s objections- e.g. I think its too expensive- deal with these objections in a way that appeals the client
- Talk to customers- do customer research
- Add the element of urgency- such as limited time offer; Limited stock left; Only 25 pieces left- you should be honest to maintain trust
- Mention customer reviews/ testimonials for social proof- three steps for good testimonials:
- Before- how they were before using the product/ service
- After- how they are after using the product/ service
- What they would tell to other people
- Used crooked numbers; not rounded ones- helps to grab more attention

- Combine different skills together and sell them as a package to the client
- Such as website copy+ blog writing+ editing of current material on website
- Clients prefer one stop for all
Know, Learn and Sell
- Create a services list- sit and think what you already know, what you can learn, what you can sell right now and what can you sell as meshed services
- Know- Make a list of at least 3 types of writing you would easily sell- e.g. blog posts, social media posts, website content; collect 1-3 of your best samples to send them to clients
- Learn- Make a list of 3 types of skills you think you can master; create 1-3 samples after mastering the skill
- Sell- make a list of the types of skill combination you are going to sell; get in touch with existing clients and offer new and meshed skills
